Railway Approvals undertake a variety of activities associated with rail certification processes, as follows:
Technical verification to support applications to regulatory authorities, e.g. Network Rail's Acceptance Board (NRAB) Safety Review Panel for route acceptance, independent ‘Competent Person’ assessment within operator’s Safety Management Systems in support of the Railways and Other Guided Transportation Systems (ROGS) Regulations 2006.
Development of engineering and regulatory standards, both UK and European, appertaining to railway vehicles through attendance at subject committees and other industry forums (with other key parties such as HMRI, SRA and RSSB) where such standards are drafted and discussed.
Liaison with other Notified Bodies to share best-practice and ensure a consistent application of standards
